This year Husqvarna celebrates 50 years
as a chainsaw manufacturer. As a result of all the demands that
professional forestry workers have placed on us over the years, we now
have one of the market’s strongest chainsaw ranges.
Here are a few highlights from the
Husqvarna chainsaw history:
1959 - Husqvarna’s first chainsaw was launched in 1959
and it was black and orange. Husqvarna’s outdoor products have been
orange ever since. The first model (Husqvarna 90) had 50% lower noise
levels than other comparable products on the market when it was
launched.
1960’s – Husqvarna has been successful on the export
market since the late 1960’s when the sales took of. Very important
models during the 60´s were Husqvarna 65 and 180. Today, 95% of all our
products are exported and the company is represented by some 18,000
dealers in almost 100 counties around the world.
1982 - The Husqvarna 50 Rancher® was launched 1982.
This is a saw that was developed especially for farmers and occasional
users. It became the first Husqvarna saw build for all-round use and was
soon immensely popular, especially with farmers and forest owners in
the United States. The saw is still in production, and after a numerous
updates it’s now called the 55 Rancher. Husqvarna 55 Rancher.
1994 - Husqvarna has a proud history when it comes to
the World Logging Championships. Team Husqvarna has won the gold medal
eight times since the first WLC in 1970. The contest is held every two
years, attracting competitors from some 30 countries, who compete both
individually and on national teams. Vasile Babata from Romania used a
Husqvarna 262 XP® when he won the World Logging Championships in 1994.
2001 – In 2001 Husqvarna launched the first chainsaw
model with the new TrioBrake™ function. TrioBrake means that the chain
brake can also be activated with the right hand. This reduces the risk
of injuries, but also promotes a more ergonomic working position. And
just like the integrated vibration-damping system and the
inertia-activated chain brake, TrioBrake has the potential to become a
new industry standard from Husqvarna.
2004 - 575 XP® and 445 Rancher were the first models
equipped with the X-Torq feature. X-Torq is an engine technology for
Husqvarna chainsaws which results in more power across a wide range of
rpms and lower fuel consumption and lower emissions.
